Art4All festival set to return to town

April 25, 2025

Following on from last year’s success, an inclusive art festival will once again be held in Howden.

The Art4All festival will come to the town on June 7 and 8, with professional and amateur artists displaying their work in exhibitions at Howden Minster, Shire Hall and Bishop’s Manor. The idea for the festival was developed by the team at The Goddards, which provides care services to people with learning disabilities, to celebrate the art work and creativity of their residents and visitors, as well as giving other local art enthusiasts the opportunity to display their work too. It is organised in partnership with Howden Town Council and professional artist Jeff Smith.

Residents at The Goddards have been busy in the crafty cabin, making their own individual artworks. They will also come together to make a larger piece of art which will be displayed at the festival. Event organiser, Rachel Benton, registered manager of The Goddards said: “We’re wanting our local care homes, schools and charities to join us and submit their artwork. The community artwork will be displayed in Howden Minster, and we want to fill it. We’ve had lots of different art, we’ve had sculptures, art that you can touch. “Jeff is getting some professional artists together to display their work in Shire Hall, and there will be events for children to take part in at Ginger’s Ice Cream Parlour. “It’s really important that people who need that extra bit of support to be creative can have their artwork displayed as well. “The festival last year was the first one and it was really successful last year, and we’re really pleased that Junction Goole, Arts Council England and Howden Town Council are supporting this year’s festival as well.” If you are interested in having your artwork displayed, please contact Rachel Benton on 01405 860247 or email rachel@goddardscare.co.uk
