Airmyn FC 4 Old Club FC 0

Airmyn FC travelled to Old Club FC this weekend in the DDFA Cup first round due to ongoing complications which left Airmyn without a pitch.

The fixture had been at risk and coming close to Airmyn having to pull out of the cup tie. Luckily Old Club FC agreed to reverse the fixture so the game could go on. Old Club started well and dominated from the off with the aid of windy conditions creating and coming close with numerous chances to take the lead if not for a workmanlike performance from the boys in Red and Black and an incredible first half performance from the young Airmyn keeper Joshua Tooke to help take the score into the half time at 0-0. To call this game a game of two halves would be an understatement with Airmyn coming out of the traps a different team and returning the first half favour to Old Club FC but with something extra… goals.

The first coming from Josh Lamming whose turn and shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box opening the floodgates and after coming close on several occasions Jarred Gay pounced on a spilled ball to lace the ball home making it 2-0. With Airmyn feeling confident and Old Club tempers flaring it was only a matter of time before a third goal came with Jarred Gay being brought down in the box to win a penalty which was put away by Patrick Guest. The Villagers then killed the game off late with Jason Clayton’s looping shot from distance to finish the game 4-0 and see Airmyn through to the next round. The Percy Arms Man of the Match was Joshua Tooke.
