A Goole charity worker is embarking on a 150-mile Coast to Coast bike ride in just one day, to raise funds for the youth charity he works with.

Phil Jackson, development co-ordinator at Goole Youth Action (GYA) will be taking on the gruelling cycling challenge on Saturday, June 26 in aid of the not for profit organisation which supports young people in our area. Phil said: “We are a small charity so every penny is vital in helping us support young people during what has been a very difficult time for many. We are currently raising funds to be able to provide a new dedicated local website that will be designed by young people from Goole with the help of a web developer.”

The website will aim to provide advice and details of fun events and activities as well as provide a safe forum for young people to reach out to a “virtual” youth worker, who will offer them independent and impartial advice and signpost to information to other services as necessary. The website will build on the organisations existing work across Goole and Old Goole and help the organisation continue to improve the lives of young people aged 9-19 by creating a safe online space for people to use alongside the youth festivals, one-to-one support, detached street work, youth training courses and youth forum that young people can already access in the town.

Phil concluded: “All monies raised from this Coast to Coast epic ride will help to fund the new website, so if you are able to sponsor me I would be very grateful.” To sponsor Phil, email phil.gooleyouthaction@gmail.com
